FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Seattle, Washington (June 2023): To cap off AAPI Heritage Month, the founders & owners of La Union Studio were featured as special in-studio guests on the television show, Studio 13 Live, on FOX 13 Seattle on May 31, 2023. The segment was meant to celebrate diversity in the Pacific Northwest. During the interview, Sonia-Lynn Abenojar and Sergio Legon-Talamoni shared their insights on how their architectural and interior design business allows them to weave cultural and historical narratives to reflect the individuality of their clients.
“We both grew up in South Seattle and we have been exposed to the beauty and diversity of ethnic backgrounds in our day to day lives. So we were inspired to showcase that in the work that we do for our clients,”explained Abenojar to host Mireya Garcia. “We are really inspired by the stories of our clients so what we do a lot with our design process is really just listen. To the sights, the sounds and smells of what our clients want to convey because there is so much rich history and heritage there of what they want to put out in the world”.
During the interview segment, Legon-Talamoni also shared with the viewers how their work with small businesses often goes far beyond the design process.
“We know what’s at stake when you are opening up a brick and mortar, sometimes you just don’t know all the process that’s involved,” said Legon-Talamoni. “It’s our job at La Union Studio to translate a lot of the complicated terms, do some of the petty tasks and work with the contractors and the city on permits and other stuff like that, so our clients can really focus on their business”.
One of La Union Studio’s clients, CheBogz, was also featured on the same episode of Studio 13 Live. Chef and small business owner, Patrixia Paraiso was a guest on the Emerald Eats segment where she showcased a traditional Filipino dish and talked about the opening of her new storefront in the Beacon Hill neighborhood this summer.
