LA UNION STUDIO COLLABORATES WITH BAJA BISTRO AS RESTAURANT REOPENS IN BEACON HILL NEIGHBORHOOD

Seattle, WA (July 24, 2023): La Union Studio is excited for the official (re)opening of the Mexican Restaurant, Baja Bistro, this past weekend in the vibrant neighborhood of Beacon Hill. The owner, Oscar Rodriguez, was on hand for the soft opening celebration, along with his community & business partners, family and friends as this small business celebrates a long-awaited return to the culinary world of the Pacific Northwest. 

“Our favorite part of designing any space is seeing it full of life, love and energy,” said Sonia-Lynn Abenojar, La Union’s Co-Founder & Director of Creativity. “We congratulate Oscar and his family. It’s been a long time coming and a full circle moment”. 

La Union Design Studio, a firm known for its innovative and culturally impactful designs, was launched by Abenojar and her partner Sergio Max Legon-Talamoni. They had been working with Rodriguez and his team for the last two and a half years, with delays amplified by the pandemic and navigating the nuances of funding from various sources of community lenders. After being displaced due to rising rents and gentrification,  Baja Bistro was able to finally pass final inspection this month and return to the neighborhood in its new space located at 2710 Beacon Avenue South earlier this summer. Located in the heart of Beacon Hill business corridor, Baja Bistro serves up regional Mexican food from Baja California, where brothers Oscar & Luis were born and raised. Oscar said it took a community effort and successful partnerships like the one with the La Union Studio team to help make this reopening a reality.

“Working with Sonia and Sergio was great. They are young and enthusiastic and they have a good eye. I trusted them immediately,” said Oscar. “La Union  Studio did our architecture design. They hired my general contractor and came up with ideas for our decor. Most importantly, they listened to my ideas and were just really easy to work with”.
